Baudry pleased with form
Mathieu Baudry is expecting a strong finish from Rovers as they approach the home straight of the Sky Bet League Two season.
Baudry has slotted into the backline effortlessly since returning from injury and says the team are right where they want to be with nine league games remaining.
“We had a little bit of a blip, but this league is competitive and we’ve started grinding results out again as we saw in the last game where we came from a goal down to get a result,” he said.
“We need to stay focused on each game, in football everything can turn around very quickly so we need to keep our foot on the gas and ensure we finish the season strongly.
“We’ve got talented players, there’s a mix of people who came in wanting to get promoted and others who were here last season and want to make amends for getting relegated.”
As the Frenchman prepares to face bottom side Leyton Orient on Saturday, the 29-year-old is hoping his former club can have an up-turn in form - but only after they’ve faced Rovers.
“It’s sad for me as it was a great club with some good people there. The contrast compared to where we were two-and-a-half years ago is a bit dramatic,” he added.
“It’s gone downhill since they lost in the play-off final, they need someone who cares about the club to re-build it and make it successful again.
“They’ve got a young coach, he’s doing a good job of bringing a number of young players through and has the potential to be a good manager.”
