DF post Accrington

26 February 2017

Rovers manager Darren Ferguson was ruing missed opportunities after his side drew 2-2 with Accrington Stanley.

Goals from Tommy Rowe and John Marquis had Rovers leading going into the final 10 minutes at the Keepmoat Stadium, but they had to settle for a point.

And Ferguson was disappointed that his team could not find that elusive third goal which could have put the result beyond doubt when Rovers were ahead.

“We had so many opportunities to score that third goal today and unfortunately for us we could not find it to kill the game off,” he said.

“We had loads of chances to score, we are an attacking team but we are not getting enough goals at the minute, and we should have had a lot more than two goals that’s for sure.

“I felt that when we went 2-1 up that we would go onto win the game comfortably, but that was not the case and it proved costly.”

Rovers, who still sit top of Sky Bet League Two, travel south to Cambridge United on Tuesday night looking to find their first win in five games.

“We need to make sure we get back to winning ways on Tuesday night and how we do that is going back to basics,” added Ferguson.

“I have a good team and there is no panic about the place, but we need to get back winning it’s as simple as that.

“We have to go to Cambridge and get the win, it doesn’t matter how you do it as long as you come away with three points.”
