Family Excellence 2017

28 April 2017

Doncaster Rovers have achieved the EFL Family Excellence Award for the 10th year in a row.

The award recognised the outstanding experience provided by the club for young fans and families, as well ask our efforts to enhance the match day experience.

Rovers are one of only eight clubs to have achieved the award every year since they were created in 2007.

Marketing manager Mark Hughesman said: “We are committed to ensuring our match day experience is as rounded as possible, and want everyone who comes to games to know how valued they are.

“We have a real commitment to family excellence at Doncaster Rovers with particular focus on our family area, in the East Stand. Donny Dog and I are looking forward to seeing the faces of young fans when they see the additions we are planning for next season.

“We have made a commitment to make football affordable for our younger supporters, for next season all children ages 17 and under can watch all 23 home league games for just £30, that’s only £1.31 per game.

“We have seen a 25% increase in the number of first time fans attending this season (a Keepmoat Stadium record) as well as an increase of 7% of match tickets sold within the Club Doncaster Foundation Family Area against last year."

Club Doncaster chief executive Gavin Baldwin said: “The club and owners are very proud of being only one of a handful of clubs to win this award every year since its inception.

“We do everything we can to put supporters at the heart of all our thinking, and value the feedback we receive through the Supporters Board, In Rowers We Trust and from the fans who contact us or stop staff members for a chat at games or our events.”

More and more young people have made their way through the turnstiles in the EFL, with junior season ticket sales having increased by 37 per cent since 2007. Across the EFL, one fifth of all attendees are under the age of 16.

EFL chief executive Shaun Harvey said:  “The EFL Family Excellence Awards have proven a fantastic vehicle for celebrating and highlighting the excellent progress that clubs are making in providing families with improved match day experience.

“Now in their 10th year, the Awards have made a significant impact and this year’s winners have shown innovative thinking and a strong how a commitment can enhance the experience for both home and away fans.”

The seven clubs who join Rovers in achieving the award every year since it was created are Birmingham City, Bolton Wanderers, Cardiff City, Huddersfield Town, Ipswich Town, MK Dons and Reading.
