FF: Kids Cup

10 March 2017

Club Doncaster Foundation hosted the regional finals of the EFL Trust Kinder + Sport Kids Cup at the Keepmoat Stadium on Wednesday.

Teams from across the region gathered to compete for the ultimate prize of the chance to play on the Wembley turf in the finals.

Victorious were the school representing Carlisle United and they now make the long journey to London in May to once again represent their club on English football’s biggest stage in the national final.

Kelly Jackson, Community Co-ordinator at Club Doncaster Foundation helped organised the event and was delighted with the outcome of the day.

She said: “All the kids were great, there was some excellent football and even better sportsmanship.

“Every team should be proud of themselves today and a massive congratulations is in order for Carlisle who were fantastic throughout. We hope everyone enjoyed it as much as we did hosting it,”

Charlotte Dinsdale from the EFL Trust was also in attendance for the afternoon and was impressed with what she saw.

She added: “It’s a fantastic facility here at the Keepmoat Stadium; you’re actually really lucky to have it here on the doorstep.

“It’s been an amazing day and the whole thing was played in such great spirit from everyone, you can see the pride in their faces to wear their club shirts and represent them.

“There’s some really good teams out there, there’s been a buzz all afternoon and it’s the ultimate prize that they are playing for; Wembley is a fantastic achievement.”
