Rowe thriving on pressure

24 March 2017

Tommy Rowe is confident that Rovers can handle to pressure of the end of season run in.

Plymouth Argyle travel to the Keepmoat Stadium this weekend, and Rowe says that his side are fully prepared for what he describes as an exciting game.

“Nothing’s really changed for us, with the exception of the day of the game changing, we’ve been in fantastic form so we’ve tried to keep the same structure,” he said.

“I’ll have a break from football on Saturday, sometimes you need to switch off and relax so I feel it’s important I do that and prepare myself for our game.

“We need to enjoy the occasion, there’s nothing to be worried about from our point of view. We’re sitting nicely in the league and still look to improve even at this stage of the season.”

Rowe is nicknamed Tommy Ferguson by his team-mates, due to his long-standing professional relationship with Rovers manager Darren – the midfielder says the pair get on well.

“The lads have a bit of banter about that, I’ve worked with the manager for several years throughout my career so we’ve got a great understanding,” he added.

“We’re open with each other in terms of how I’m performing, if he thinks I can improve then I’ll take that on board and try and learn from it.

“One of the reasons why I wanted to sign in the summer was because I knew I’d get the freedom to play games and express myself in a squad full of quality players.”
