Wright On Track

26 August 2016

But defender Joe says that there's still improvement in Rovers.

Joe Wright has said that he and his Doncaster Rovers teammates are a confident bunch going in to Saturday’s encounter with Yeovil Town at Keepmoat Stadium.

Rovers are looking for their third straight win after back-to-back 1-0 victories.

“We’re really confident going in to the next game,” he said.

“To keep clean sheets and play the way we did is a real bonus for all of the lads.

“They were 1-0 wins but the way we performed we probably deserved more than 1-0 but we’ll definitely take the win and a clean sheet.

“The first few results were frustrating games; we probably didn’t get what we wanted. The performances from those games were good so we knew it would come.

“Clean sheets bring confidence, not just to defenders but the whole team. It’s not just our job to defend, its everyone’s, so keeping clean sheets breeds confidence.”

Wright, at just 21 years of age, knows his way around this division and the new addition said there was still room for improvement.

“As a team, we’re still trying to improve,” he said.

“There’s a lot of new players that have come in so everyone’s still getting used to each other but there’s always room for improvement.

“It’s key to keep clean sheets, we’ve proved that in the last couple of games.

“John (Marquis) has chipped in with a couple of goals and I’m sure it’s going to come for ‘Willo’ (Andy Williams) as well.

“He’s creating chances for himself, his movement’s been good, he’s been very good in training this week so I’m sure it’s just a matter of time.”
