5 Minutes With Paul Dickov

30 May 2014

Doncaster Rovers manager Paul Dickov gives an update on player news, contracts and activity during the close season.

Doncaster Rovers caught up with first team manager Paul Dickov to get an update on player activity during the off season.

Despite the club's relegation to League One, Dickov insists that fans have lots to be positive about, as the club already has the makings of a strong League One side and is working hard to add to it.

"I said at the end of last season; we have a great club here that's together from the top all the way through, and our main aim next season is to gain promotion back to the Championship. There will be a massive effort from everyone at the club to get back in that division.

"We're trying to do business early to ensure we have a squad in place and a foundation to build on when the players come back for pre season.

"Talks are also ongoing with current players who are out of contract. I'm speaking to them regularly and we're hopeful they will sign back up.

"At the moment business is being done under the radar, to ensure we get the best possible deals done.

"I have the backing of the board and I'm working really hard to boost the squad and get the best team together for next year. We want to gain promotion back to the Championship as early as possible."

Regarding the club's takeover interest Chief Executive Gavin Baldwin added;

"No one at the club is allowing this to distract us from putting together the best possible team with the current budget. For us it is business as usual."
