Bennett Signs For More

8 July 2013

Rovers are pleased to announce that Kyle Bennett has signed a new two year deal at the Keepmoat Stadium, following the news striker Chris Brown also signed a new contract.

Rovers Player spoke to Kyle after he put pen to paper on his contract which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2015.

He said: “It’s been a long process since the end of last season, with the change of manager and various other things, but I’m delighted that Paul [Dickov] offered me a new deal which I have accepted.”

The midfielder is optimistic about the club’s chances in the Championship next season and is happy he will be part of the challenge.

He told Rovers Player: “Hopefully this season we can stay in the Championship, which I think we will. With a few more players added to the squad I think the next two years will be good ones.”

In terms of pre-season Bennett admits the training is tough but is encouraged by the style of play new manager Paul Dickov is bringing to the side and he can’t wait for the season to begin.

“Training has been quite tough but it’s all good the work we put in now will help us through the course of the season. We have had the footballs out too and have done quite a lot of passing and

possession. In the game against Frickley we put that to good use and played the ball around pretty well.

“The manager wants us to get the ball down and play which is good for a player like me. We have been working on that in training and have been doing a lot of possession work too – I’ve really enjoyed training and am looking forward to working with the gaffer.

“The fitness work does help you looking forward, but I think the best thing for us is playing games where you can gain the all important match fitness.”
