Doncaster Rovers chairman John Ryan was surprised that one of his off the cuff remarks to the players has caused so much media interest. John had met up with the players after the Walsall game and just said jokingly “If you score 20 goals I will give you my Bentley” which was picked up by the visiting press that day when interviewing Kyle.

John Ryan “I was surprised when Soccer AM and other media channels picked up on this joke and took it so serious that they started a campaign. I had just said it during my excitement at the win and the great goals we had scored. I offered to take Kyle and his girlfriend for a run in my Bentley, not actually give him the car! I would have to sell him at 19 goals if I was being serious! ”

Despite this being a bit of banter from Chairman to player, it has generated much media interested but John has been quick to point out that this was only a joke and he really meant that he would take him for a ride if he hit the target 20 times so he could impress his girlfriend.
