Darren's Birthday Surprise

9 February 2016

Gaffer receives well wishes before turning attentions to Saturday's derby day.

Darren Ferguson was hoping for a belated birthday present when his Rovers side host Sheffield United on Saturday.

The Scottish manager turned 44 years old today and spent part of it putting some youngsters through their paces with a coaching session at Keepmoat Stadium before being suitably thanked in the traditional way (watch the video below).

Over 185 children aged 7-12 attended across the two day football workshop at the Club Doncaster Academy.

“It was good fun, it’s good for the kids and there was a great turnout and there’s a lot of work that goes in to it from the coaches so it was good and enjoyable,” Ferguson said of the half term ‘Player Development Course’ before turning his attentions to closing the gap on the 11th placed Blades to just three points.

“I’m really looking forward to the game; it’ll be a big crowd, it’s a derby and I think it’s a game that we can do well in.

“It’s a good game at the right time with a big crowd and I’m fully expecting a good performance from my team.”
