Dickov Looks At The Positives

3 August 2013

Manager Paul Dickov was left disappointed with defeat at the hands of Blackpool although he admitted that the performance was a good one good for the majority of the game.

Although Rovers suffered a 3-1 defeat there were lots of positives to come from the game, which Paul will use to build upon looking ahead.

“I thought for the majority of the game we competed and we played fairly well,” he said

“We need to be a little bit more clinical in the final third but it just goes to show that this is an unforgiving division.

“We got back into the game and looked as though we were going to go on and win it.

“For their second goal we switched off from a set piece and conceded then the last goal we were pushing to try and get a goal of our own and they broke and scored - for the majority of the game we played really well.

“We started slowly but from the middle of the first and the majority of the second half I thought it was going to be us that was going to go on and win it – if you switch off you get punished for it especially in this league.

“We worked hard on our set pieces yesterday and it’s nice when they work but the biggest disappointment for us was the goal we conceded.

"At the time we were back in the game at 1-1, we were playing some good football and were on the front foot. They looked like they were settling for a point and then one of our players switched off at a corner and it was a free header for a goal – that is what happens at this level but we have got to learn from it.

“There is little thing that we need to be better at and we will take that into the game on Tuesday night.”

“We’re really disappointed with today, but I don’t want to get away from the performance for the majority of the game.
