Dickov Wary of Weston Threat

31 October 2014

Gaffer cautious of underdogs looking for giant-killing.

Paul Dickov is not taking his FA Cup round 1 opponents, Weston Super Mare, lightly.

Dickov’s Rovers side will travel to Woodspring Stadium on November 8th and the Scot admits he is keeping tabs on the Conference South outfit in preparation.

“We’ve got someone going to Concord Rangers to do a match report,” said Dickov.

“It’s the magic of the FA Cup and everyone’s looking for an upset, it’s a trophy that’s close to me.

“We drew Liverpool when I was at Oldham so I know what a good cup run can do for the town – including the financial aspects as well – so we’ll be going for the third round.”

Dickov was not able to replicate his exploits with the Latics when, last season, Rovers crashed out at the third round stage to Stevenage and the Rovers boss highlighted the potential banana skin.

“I’ve seen their manager coming on about giant killing so we know we've got to be on it,” he said.

“We’ve got to go down and be professional and get the job done.

“We spoke about having runs in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy and, in particular the Capital One Cup, and we've done that and the FA cup is no different this year.”
