Paul Dickov has said that he is taking nothing for granted when his side come up against a winless Colchester United on Saturday.The U’s have only gained one point in three games, but Dickov was certain that Rovers can not expect an easy ride when they head to Essex.
“They’re down there, but I watched their game against Notts County but how they didn’t win I’ll never know,” he said.
“They’re an attack-minded team with plenty of players who like to get forward so we’ll have to be on our guard defensively.
“Looking at their position and them being down there means nothing at this stage of the season.”
Rovers rescued a point against Preston North End on Tuesday night thanks to Nathan Tyson’s injured time equaliser, but the point looked to have come at a price as skipper Rob Jones was injured within the first ten minutes.
“It’s positive news,” said Dickov.
“Rob spoke to the specialist and he’s improved a lot over the last couple of days and he has a fighting chance of being fit for Saturday.
“If he hadn’t had any previous neck injury then they wouldn’t be worried about it but he took a nasty blow to it. If he’s not right for Saturday then he’ll more than likely be fit for Tuesday night.”
Tyson, a second half substitute – who recently declared he’s fallen back in love with football – became Dickov’s fourth substitute in as many games to notch a goal.
“Its great for me to have four subs come on and score in four games because it shows the togetherness and the fact that there’s no sulking.
“They’re a good group who get on together and the ones on the bench want the ones on the pitch to do well and vice versa and it’s a good situation to have.
“We all want everything now, results now and none more than me but there’s got to be patience.”
