Donny Dog on Tour

14 February 2014

We are more than half way through the season now so I thought I better give you my latest updates (sorry it has taken me so long!).

Since my last blog in October I have been a well travelled dog, I must be the most travelled mascot in the football league at the moment?  I made the trips to Reading and Middlesbrough; I was very well looked after and was impressed with the stadiums.  Then we travelled the short distance to Barnsley and I got to meet up with Toby Tyke!  We shared the points in a 0-0 draw and we took almost 2,000 fans, it was also the day that John Ryan stepped down as chairman.

On 14th November I was lucky enough to be part of the Christmas light switch on in town.  Alex Peterson and Jordan Binns were in attendance from the playing squad.  It was also an exciting time as I discovered mini versions of me in the club shop, I know many of you have been and bought them which is fantastic!  I also attended the Bawtry Christmas light switch on with my friend Traxie Bear (from the local radio).  We always have a laugh when we are together especially at Christmas time.

I did not make the trip to Birmingham, but what a goal by Cotterill.  Made my first visit to the Reebok Stadium (Bolton) and I remember meeting you all in the concourse area and having photographs taken.  Once again the Doncaster Free Press Superkids awards were held here at the stadium so I made an appearance.  Congratulations to all those who were nominated.  We held our annual Junior Rovers Christmas party and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it (including the players!).  I am pleased that so many of you were able to attend.  Not forgetting MY own Christmas party lunch which was held in the restaurant, it was very successful for our first one and many want to come back again if we do one again this year!  The food was fantastic; yes I made sure I was around at feeding time (woof woof).

I feel very lucky when I look back over the past few months as I was also able to attend the Paul Dickov training session.  The kids really enjoyed it and thanks Paul for letting me stay and get involved!  I made it along with the players to the hospital visit and we put smiles on so many children’s faces, so many unforgettable moments for me.

I got to meet Rammie at Derby County and I had a few photos taken with the home supporters and I visited Loftus Road on a very wet New Years Day.  Our first home game of 2014 was our FA Cup match against Stevenage.  Boro Bear came to keep me company and it was good to have him here (even though he did take the next round home with him!).  We had an amazing game against Wigan at home mid January, we beat them 3-0 and the atmosphere was great.  Next stop was to the seaside where I met up with Bloomfield Bear.  It was a very wet and windy day, but we still had a great following.  Charlton at home came next and we all know how well we did earlier in the season, but the weather spoilt it!  We certainly got all three points this time and another 3 goals.

Players back from injury and excellent January signings, we are in February now and every game is important.  Our Yorkshire neighbours Barnsley are next to visit, so I hope many of you will be here to make lots of noise with me.  I am then making the long trips down south to visit Yeovil and Bournemouth.

Don’t forget it is half term coming up so I hope many of you are joining the Foundation team on our soccer camps?  Season tickets are also on sale and if you sit in the family stand you will be close to where I hide out.

I look forward to seeing you all.
