Donny Dog On Tour

9 January 2013

I am here again to tell you all about my activities over the Christmas period.

First of all I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year.

Going back to the Coventry match on 15 December, although we lost I found myself entertaining the fans in the South East corner with my many dance moves!

I was back at the Keepmoat on 16 December for the Bluebell Wood Santa Dash which was very well attended and it was a good morning.
I was left to lead the warm-up and everyone was in full Christmas spirit ready for our 2 laps around the athletics track.  We had a few who arrived after we had finished so I ended up doing 3 laps, good job I am as fit as a butchers dog!!!  Thank you to all those that took part, I really enjoyed myself.

Oh no, the rain had to spoil my Saturday on 22 December.  The match was postponed against MK Dons so I was left to sleep and get ready for Oldham and Preston away.

Boxing Day and all football fans are travelling up and down the country watching their teams, best day of the year!  I went to Boundary Park and saw our lads do the double over Oldham in the league.  The support was great and the weather was not very good (rain rain and more rain)!  I sat in the stand with the fans and in the second half I had two fans behind me in their onesies!

Saturday 29 December saw me heading to Lancashire again to take on Preston North End.  I have to praise the stewards in the away end as they were great.  They looked after me well and the support again was excellent.  We do really appreciate all the noise and it keeps me and the lads going!  To make the day even better we came back with all 3 points.

The day finally arrived, our local derby against Sheffield United.  New Years Day started really well and the lads played very well, I think we were all excited to be 2-0 up over our Yorkshire rivals.  The support was brilliant again and the fans were vocal throughout.  At half time I took part in a relay race with Captain Blade and Bluebell Wood mascot Fern, in my defence I almost caught Captain Blade!

So the points were shared again and it was a draw like it was at Bramall Lane, at least we got to see some goals here!  It is great to have Coppinger back and the applause he got when he came on as sub was fantastic and everyone stood to give him the welcome he deserved.

Time to focus on our next games!
