Don't Panic - Dickov

Gaffer aims to instill calm and confidence among Rovers ranks.

Rovers manager Paul Dickov has said that he hopes his side can come through Saturday’s clash against Chesterfield unscathed while without a trio of key players.

Harry Forrester is serving the second match of his two game suspension, while Rob Jones and Curtis Main (both knee) are absent.

“Everybody’s a little bit frustrated at the moment – me included – but I know the players are capable,” said Dickov.

“We’re a little bit light but hopefully with Curtis, Rob and Harry – who are all big players for the club – coming back in the not too distant future, then we’ll assess the performances over the next couple of games.

“Rob’s scans have come back and it’s not too serious but he will miss Saturday. He has a cyst in the back of his knee while Curtis has done a bit of work today but we don’t want to rush him back but it’s a case of a marathon instead of a sprint.

“Me and Harry have sat down and he knows he’s let himself and his teammates down and he’s been punished, as well as having the two games ban so we’ve had a chat and we hope he’s learned his lesson now.”

Dickov thanked the fans for their response to Tuesday’s frustrating draw against Crawley. “We’re aware that we need to start picking up wins and we know that.

“The pleasing thing was the reaction of the fans to the players at the end of the game the other night and if they keep giving everything they’ve got then the fans will back them and the reception from the fans was great.

“The players have been really receptive to what we’ve said but it’s important we don’t panic.”
