First Supporters Board Meeting

12 February 2016

Fan engagement and supporter interaction high on the agenda.

The Club recently met with the newly appointed Supporters Board to discuss fan engagement and moving the relationship between the supporters and the Club to the next level. The Supporters Board consists of key members of our supporters groups, representing The Doncaster Rovers Supporters Club, DRSG and the VSC.

The meeting chaired by CEO Gavin Baldwin covered key issues such as Season Ticket and match day pricing, the 2016/17 kit design and new technical partnership with FBT, catering, improving online ticketing and stadium maintenance.

Gavin Baldwin said: “The meeting was incredibly positive, and one that will help us all drive this club forwards. We excel in many areas of fan engagement already, and are recognised for doing so. With the Supporters Board and the valuable input, we can now gauge fan expectations and granularly manage improvements to make Rovers an even better place for our supporters to watch and to enjoy their football.”

Len South of the Doncaster Rovers Supporters Club: “I attended the inaugural meeting that was extremely productive. This is an excellent forum to bring supporters comments and concerns so they can be aired and acted upon if necessary. The board may also be able to influence the decision making process and make supporting Rovers a more enjoyable experience. There will be times when may we do not achieve the desired decision or outcome but we will at least have our say and you cannot influence anything from outside you have to part of it.”

Martin O’Hara of the VSC: "It’s important for all supporters to think that their club listens to their concerns and tries to implement change that enhances the relationship between fan and club. To achieve that effective lines of communication are incredibly important and there is no better way of doing that than following the lead that has been set by Doncaster Rovers in recent years. We have consistently led the way with our fan panels and Meet the Owners events but the newly formed Supporters Board is a new direction that we believe can produce a very positive and creative way to keep raising the bar for other clubs. Our subject matters are DRFC subject matters, and we urge everyone to join with us whilst we work together to create a better club, one we can all be proud of.”

Lee Croft of the DRSG said: “It's no secret that DRFC doesn't just copy fan engagement trends - we set them and do so in the Doncaster Rovers way! The new Supporters Board is a fine example of that and I think it's something that will help make the fans' voice not just louder, but more credible in the decision making process.”
