Forrester Fighting Back

24 April 2014

Rovers caught up with reflective midfielder on road to recovery.

Doncaster Rovers midfielder Harry Forrester has been utilising the best training facilities in the country as he looks to step up his recovery from a recurrence of his knee injury.

The former Brentford man has been training at St. George’s Park in Burton, where England’s World Cup stars will prepare before they jet off for Brazil in June.

“St George’s Park is crazy. The facilities down there are top class; I went down to get away from the training ground and clear my head a bit and use their facilities. They’ve got all the stuff I need down there and I’ve done all the tests that I needed to do down there,” said Forrester.

“They’ve got no excuses with the facilities, let me tell you that. The pitches are amazing and when I was there, there was a night cup on with young lads and even the 10 year olds don’t know how lucky they are sometimes.”

The midfielder, whose last appearance in a Rovers shirt was January, is looking to the future though and says he can’t wait to get back to even just kicking a football.

“It was a nice week away, I worked hard, I stepped it up again, and hopefully I can resume training soon,” he said.

“It’s been horrible; I won’t shy away from that. It’s been really tough just watching the lads playing week in week out against some great teams at the Keepmoat and the great stadiums away. That’s what I wanted to do this year but I’ve got all the faith in the lads that we’ll be doing it next year.”

With the Bees recently securing promotion from League 1 to the Championship, Forrester is hoping that a return against his former club in the second tier is on the agenda: “I’m desperate, I can’t express how much I want that. The reason I signed here was to play Championship football with Doncaster and help them progress and it’s not been that way, so worse case scenario it will be League 1 next year but that would be agonising.

“I have all the faith in the boys, however, we know what we need from the last two games, we’re in a good position and I just hope we can get across the line and I can personally kick on and come back stronger next year.”
