Foundation Friday: Former Graduate Now The Face Of NCS

5 February 2016

Libby Smith to front national campaign

A graduate of the National Citizen Service programme run by the Club Doncaster Foundation, Libby Smith has been selected from thousands to front an advertising campaign for the youth programme.

The 17 year-old features in television ads being shown across television channels and cinemas and is one of 20 graduates selected to feature in the national campaign.

Director Giorgio Testi carried out the shoot and he has worked previously with the like of the Rolling Stones, Oasis, Adele, Adidas, Red Bull and Converse.

The advert features footage from their time on NCS and the benefits of taking part in the programme.

Libby’s inclusion in the national campaign is just one of a number of activities she has taken part in since completing NCS with the Club Doncaster Foundation.

She made full use of her once in a lifetime experience by visiting 10 Downing Street last year, after joining the local and regional Youth Board following the experience.

Libby is also an ambassador for the programme and regularly attends Club Doncaster Foundation promotional events to tell students considering signing up to the programme about her amazing experiences.

As part of the NCS project, participants are whisked away on a great adventure to take part in adrenaline filled activities before returning to Doncaster to carry out a social action project to help the region.

By participating in NCS, Libby developed skills to enhance her prospects for university and job applications, whilst also learnt how to save somebody’s life, supported the blind and experienced working on bike safety.

Furthermore, Libby developed friendships for life – meeting over 70 new people whilst on the NCS programme, which she claims was a major highlight of the scheme.

Speaking about her experience Libby said: “NCS made me overcome many fears that I never knew I had, it was a great experience.”

Club Doncaster NCS co-ordinator Jan Budtz added: “Libby’s experience with NCS has lasted so much longer than three weeks and she has proven there is so much to get involved with.

“Libby came out of her shell during NCS and is really down to earth and we are all proud of her achievements that she has made to date here at the Foundation.

“NCS really is a life changing experience, it opens so many different avenues for the graduates and we are seeing more and more success stories every year.”

NCS is open to all 15-17 year olds in the region and the Club Doncaster Foundation are now recruiting the latest set of adventurers for the Spring 2016 half term and for various dates over the Summer 2016 half term.
