Loan Watch

15 April 2014

We cast an eye on our current, and recent, players featuring away from the Keepmoat Stadium.

Rovers duo Billy Paynter and Kyle Bennett are experiencing different loan spells with Sheffield United and Bradford City respectively.

Paynter could only watch on as his current side were defeated 5-3 by Hull City in a dramatic semi-final at Wembley. The Liverpudlian, who was cup tied after playing against Stevenage for Rovers at the third round stage, has had mixed fortunes at Bramall Lane since signing until the end of the season.

The former Port Vale, Swindon and Leeds forward – who notched 13 goals in our League 1 title winning campaign – is yet to open his account for Nigel Clough’s side in his 6 starts and five substitute appearances.

Flying winger Bennett meanwhile has enjoyed a prolonged run in the Bantams starting eleven and was in front of the Sky cameras last Friday in a tightly contested 0-0 draw with Yorkshire rivals Rotherham United at the New York Stadium.

Bennett’s spell didn’t get off to the best of starts, receiving a straight red card just 25 minutes in to his debut against Preston North End but has become a fixture in Phil Parkinson’s plans.

The ex-Bury winger, 23, has scored one goal in his time with the League One club, a smart finish against Colchester United

Striker Alex Peterson has returned from his spell at Barnet after featuring once for the Bees  in a 2-0 defeat to Macclesfield in the Skrill Premier before Martin Allen returned to the club for a fourth spell as manager.

Staying in the fifth tier and nineteen year old forward Chris Whincop had a brief spell with already relegated Hyde FC made 1 start and 1 substitute appearance without scoring.

Youngsters Jordan Binns and Joshua Meade are back at Cantley Park after a spell with Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division South outfit Goole.
