Lundstram Excited With Rovers Move

20 February 2013

New loan signing John Lundstram spoke exclusively to Rovers Player upon joining the club from Everton on an initial one month loan deal.

“It all happened really quickly,” he said

“I got a call from the Reserve Team Manager at Everton yesterday telling me of the interest and the first thing I wanted to do is come here.

“I am very excited, I’m very privileged to be given the opportunity to try and impress the gaffer – I’ve just got to do the best I can.”

Lundstram admitted that although he was a little nervous with this being the first loan spell of his career, he is excited at the challenge too.

“It’s my first loan move so it’s a bit nerve racking but it’ll be good – I just can’t wait to get started.

“Hopefully if I impress Brian I can play as many games as possible - I will just take every game as it comes.

“I played here not long ago for the England U19s and had a look around the stadium then, I met the gaffer for the first time today now I’m just really looking forward to it.

“It’s a privilege to be given an opportunity to play for a team that is at the top - I just want to do my best and help the team to get as many points as possible.”

The on loan midfielder revealed he is looking forward to playing in front of the crowd at Keepmoat Stadium.

“League football is more competitive than the U21s league; I want to play in front of the sort of crowds Doncaster get so I’m looking forward to that.

“I’d like to think that I’ve got a nice range of passing and a good engine; it’s getting to that point in the season where the first team players are getting tired so I’m a fresh pair of legs really.”
