Man mountain defender Jamie McCombe spoke to the press about the frustrations of Tuesday night's draw.
Rovers centre back Jamie McCombe has said that he hopes last night’s clean sheet against Crawley Town can provide a solid base to kick on from.Although Rovers didn’t score themselves, the hosts scarcely looked troubled with the 31 year old leading the back line in Rob Jones’ absence.
“The manager said the minimum we come away with is a clean sheet and we worked hard to get that,” he said.
“After Saturday, we were a little bit low, but it was good to get back and keep a clean sheet. You want to answer critics straight away with a win.
“The good thing with football is that we have a game ‘Saturday – Tuesday – Saturday’ so you can get over it quickly.”
McCombe has had a turbulent time of late, with injuries hampering his first team chances, yet he has yet to concede in the three games he has started this term, however Rovers are struggling to get their first maximum of the season on home turf.
He said, “It could play on people’s mind but we never think about it in the changing room or out on the pitch. In this division, teams expect us to be in the top six and park the bus and it’s difficult to break down. Hopefully we can work out how to do that and keep plugging away.
“It’s disappointing because we were the better side and if you want to achieve things you need to win these games but it now gives us a good base and a platform to kick on so it might all look a bit different in a few weeks time.”
