New Doncaster Rovers loan signing Lucas Neill spoke to Rovers Player and the press about joining the club.
The captain of Australia, with 96 caps to his name, will wear the number 27 shirt for Rovers.With eight games to go, Neill is looking forward to getting involved with the action, in what is a crucial run of matches for Doncaster.
Neill said: "It all happened very quickly, I spoke to Paul Dickov in a general catch up two weeks ago when Watford played Doncaster.
"I suppose him seeing me on the bench gave him an idea and two weeks later he made an enquiry.
"He knows how desperate I am to play first team football and perhaps he saw an opportunity to bring me up here and I had the chance to be competitive and in-line to be playing."
Neill explained that his time at Watford didn't quite go according to plan and is hoping for a different scenario with Rovers.
"I'm here, I am really happy and excited, I was a little bit frustrated at Watford, sitting on the bench, which is something I am not used to.
"I don't expect to walk into the team, I have to earn my right, which means I have to get off to a good start in training and get to know the guys quickly.
"Because there are only eight games left, I have to work them out and they have to work me out, we have to all work together as a team and hopefully we can be part of a successful end to the season with Doncaster."
The loan signing also spoke of his close relationship with Paul Dickov, having played in the Premier League alongside each other.
"He was a good friend of mine at Blackburn, but he was also a good player.
"We worked well together on the field and I think there was natural respect as players.
"We both have a passion for the game, with lots of commitment and desire to win.
"I haven't lost that and by the way Paul Dickov is talking now, he hasn't lost that either."
