Paul Dickov post Ipswich

26 August 2015

Paul Dickov spoke to the press following last night’s extra time defeat to Ipswich Town.

Rovers matched Ipswich Town, who are currently top of the Championship, for 90 minutes before extra time was needed to decide the winner.

However, Paul Dickov said he was pleased with the way his team played and the aggression shown.

“Maybe over the course of 120 minutes the difference has told, but up until the 105th minute there was very little between us and them. They are a top Championship side with plenty of strength and quality in depth,” Dickov said.

Andy Williams opened the scoring for Rovers and put the home side ahead in the tie.

“I was very pleased with our aggression and how we ran the channels through Andy and Curtis. They put themselves about and got us on the front foot which is what I have always known the side is capable of."

Rovers had to adapt in the second half due to Luke McCullough and Rob Jones having to leave the field with injury.

“Luke [McCullough] jarred his knee while making a block tackle and Rob [Jones] felt his neck go again. It’s too early to assess either of them but they weren’t worth the risk.

“Gary MacKenzie wasn’t feeling 100% but should be fine for Saturday.”
