Doncaster Rovers manager Paul Dickov spoke to Rovers Player about Richie Wellens and potential transfers.
“I am absolutely delighted, I was always confident it was going to happen, contrary to what other people were saying, we would have liked it done a little bit sooner, but Richie is here and he is here for 18 months which is great for the club.
“Richie has to take credit, because he turned down other offers from other clubs as well and he’s stayed so we are all delighted.
“I was in close contact with Richie all the way through, I spoke after the game and Saturday and spoke with Richie before-hand and we were confident, but like any deal it takes time.
“Obviously I have to thank the board and Gavin for making it happen and they have said they will back me to bring players in and Richie was the most important one, now we have Richie in we are looking to bring more in.
“We are close on a few with getting people in and getting people out , I feel that, I said after the game and it wasn’t a knee jerk reaction that we needed to freshen things up a little bit, get a bit more quality and energy into the team and if I have to do it I will.
