Club issue stern warning to fans of both Doncaster and Scunthorpe that pyrotechnic devices are strictly prohibited.
Doncaster Rovers Football Club would like to reiterate our stance that we are absolutely against the use of pyrotechnics inside or outside of any football stadium.Supporters found using pyrotechnics either at Keepmoat Stadium or at any away ground will be the subject of action by the Club and the police.
Such is the determination of the authorities to eradicate the use of pyrotechnics from football; any supporter found to be using them could be liable to a criminal conviction and, in certain cases, imprisonment.
As a Club, Doncaster Rovers imposes an indefinite ban on any supporter who violates our strict no-pyrotechnics policy.
As well as negatively affecting other fans enjoyment of the game, pyrotechnics are a serious danger to those with breathing difficulties and disabled supporters who cannot easily escape from the smoke.
Bearing in mind the use of pyrotechnics at Saturday's game at Notts County, South Yorkshire Police have issued the following statement:
South Yorkshire Police aim to deliver a safe environment for all football fans this weekend as 3 matches take place across the bank holiday.
Barnsley FC will play host to Rochdale FC, Doncaster Rovers to Scunthorpe United and Sheffield United FC will welcome Chesterfield FC – all with a kick-off at 12.15pm on Sunday 3 May, 2015.
With around 40,000 people expected to attend the matches, significant extra police resources will be on duty to ensure a safe, enjoyable day of football in South Yorkshire.
Supporters are reminded that the three events will generate significant traffic into the force area and to consider this when planning journeys to ensure that they arrive at the grounds in plenty of time for the kick-offs. To accommodate this, all turnstiles for away fans will be open earlier than usual, at 10.45am.
Superintendent Shaun Morley, who is the Police Commander for fixtures, said: “We are planning for a safe, enjoyable event for everyone attending.
“It’s a busy policing day for the force but we want to provide a safe environment for supporters and non-supporters alike.
“I want to make it clear that no level of disorder will be tolerated. We will have sufficient resources in place to deal with anyone intent on causing trouble.
