Next generation given chance at the Keepmoat Stadium

Doncaster Rovers can now confirm that FOUR youth team players have been offered professional contracts with the club.

Defenders Mitchell Lund and Ben Askins will make the transition from youth grade to senior level, as will midfielders Billy Whitehouse and Lewis Ferguson who are all expected to put pen to paper and link up with Paul Dickov’s first team squad.

Manager Dickov said: "To have players coming through the youth set up at any club is vitally important to the long term future of the football club. We were delighted to give the four players the opportunity.

"The lads that have come through, all of them, have something to offer. When and where is now up to me, but if they show the right endeavour and application, they will have the same chance as everybody else."

This latest coup for the club means that 15 players have now risen through the ranks in the last 3 years from under the stewardship of Paul Wilson and Paul Stancliffe to starting their professional careers at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Rovers would like to congratulate the aforementioned players on their achievement and wish them all best as professional footballers, particularly while wearing the coveted red and white hoops.

Many thanks also go to the Rovers Alliance members, who, through their continued support, help fund the youth team set up and provide the future generation of Doncaster Rovers players.
