Gaffer says he's in it for the long haul and wants to be successful.
Paul Dickov emphatically denied that he had even contemplated walking away from the Club in recent weeks.Speaking at his weekly press conference, the Scot called for a fresh start and rubbished suggestions that he would leave the club.
“I love the challenge, I love being here and working with everybody involved at the Football Club – the players especially,” he said.
“Never once crossed my mind and my mindset’s never changed. I want to be successful as a manager.”
Dickov cited that the fans were also an integral part of his thinking.
“We stick together, the fans have been magnificent,” Dickov stated.
“The hardcore Doncaster fans support both me and the Club and one thing I’ll always try and do is put a team out there that will work as hard as they can for the fans.”
The former Oldham Athletic boss also outlined his intentions in the transfer window in a bid to achieve long term success.
“We’re looking at two goalkeepers at the minute, cover at centre half and upfront where we need some pace going forward. The encouraging sign at Grimsby was the front four going forward, so if we get a few more additions we can be competitive next year.
“It’s going to be difficult, but the whole point of the meeting on Tuesday was to build something for the future and that’s not going to happen in one season or overnight but the one thing I want to do is to be successful.”
