Rovers Add Robinson

15 August 2013

Doncaster Rovers are pleased to announce the signing of Derby County forward Theo Robinson on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

Robinson will give manager Paul Divkov an added option in front of goal with the forward’s blistering pace and goal scoring ability.

Birmingham born Robinson is a graduate of the Watford youth academy after he was spotted in the Football League Exit Trials following his release, as a schoolboy, by Stoke City.

Theo signed a two-year apprenticeship with Watford after a successful trial and went on to represent the Hornets in the first team.

In 2007 Theo signed his first professional contract at Vicarage Road and by the end of the season he made his Premier League debut when he made a substitute appearance against Newcastle United on the final day.

In 2009 Huddersfield Town paid Watford an undisclosed fee to secure Theo’s services on a permanent basis over a three-year period.

During his three seasons at Watford, Theo enjoyed loan spells at various clubs including Southend United and Hereford United.

Theo was handed the number nine shirt at Town, although he found first team appearances limited due to the form of then Town striker Jordan Rhodes, he still managed to impress the Town supporters.

In 2010 Theo was loaned to Championship side Millwall and made an immediate impact scoring the winning goal against Crystal Palace before joining The Lions on a permanent basis.

After failing to settle in London, Theo joined Derby County on an initial three-month loan deal with a view to a permanent transfer.

Theo will be available to feature in tomorrow's game against Blackburn Rovers.

After a successful loan period, Theo signed a two-year deal at Pride Park and went on to make over 60 appearances scoring 18 goals.
