Rovers Capture Claret Howieson

21 February 2013

Doncaster Rovers are pleased to announce the youth loan signing of Burnley midfielder Cameron Howieson until the end of the season.

New Zealand international Howieson has represented his country at the 2012 Olympics at U23 level and won his first full caps for the All Whites soon after.

Cameron has also been called up by New Zealand for their Under-20 World Cup qualifying campaign next month.

The attacking midfielder, 18, has been included in a 20-man squad for the mini tournament in Fiji.

The Junior All Whites face Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, New Caledonia and Fiji in a round-robin format with the group winners making it through to the summer’s finals in Turkey.

Upon signing for Rovers Cameron said: “I got the call this morning, it was a bit late notice, but it’s good to be here now and I’m looking forward to it.

“It’s my first loan move out so it’s a big experience for me. I will take it day by day and hopefully I will get some good experience from this.

“Doncaster at the top of the table and are doing really well; I want to help them push on and get to the Championship.

“I’ve got to take every game as it comes and do the best I possibly can.”

Cameron will wear the number 22 shirt during his time with Rovers and is available for selection on Saturday against Yeovil Town.
