ROVERS FAN MEETS HER HERO

27 May 2015

Katie Lloyd has celebrated her 16th birthday by meeting her hero Donny Dog.

Katie, who suffers from Autism, recently travelled all the way from Liverpool with her Auntie to meet the legend that is Donny Dog and was duly shown around the Keepmoat Stadium’s impressive facilities.

Doncaster Rovers is proud of its roots in the community and the work it undertakes in involving supporters locally and nationwide. The Club recently took home the Family Excellence Award from the Football League for the eighth year running and are one of only six clubs to do so.

Everyone at the Club - especially Donny Dog - would like to wish Katie a very happy birthday and we hope to see her down at the Keepmoat Stadium again soon.

Katie said: “I’ve had such a great day, I loved meeting Donny Dog, he is my hero.  I couldn’t sleep last night knowing I was going to meet him.  He walked me around to the club shop and helped me pick a new shirt.  What an amazing day, it has made my birthday”.

Katie’s mother, Michelle, kindly sent the club a handwritten letter:
“You all went out of your way to give her the trip of a lifetime and she will never ever forget her 16th birthday gift you gave to her,” it reads.

“Katie suffers from very low self-esteem and socialising skills but since your kind generosity and the VIP treatment you gave her, her confidence has grown 100% and it’s amazing to see.”
