Stewart 'Refreshed' by Rovers Move

28 August 2015

Loanee midfielder gives exclusive interview to club website after arriving from Ipswich Town until January.

Cameron Stewart has said that he wants to bring some excitement to proceedings at Keepmoat Stadium.

The winger has arrived from Ipswich Town on loan until January 2016 and gave an exclusive interview to doncasterroversfc.co.uk moments after signing.

“It’s good to be here and refreshing. I needed to get out of Ipswich and play some games to show people what I can do again so I’m delighted to be here at the moment,” said the former Manchester United and England youth winger.

“I’m here until January 2nd on loan and I need to get as many games as I can and help push Doncaster up the league and enjoy myself again.

“Hopefully I can bring a bit of excitement and wing-play and create some goals and assists and maybe score some myself.”

At just 24 years of age, the tricky winger has bags of talent and prompted Town boss Mick McCarthy to hand him a three year contract at Portman Road upon arrival a year ago.

“At the moment, I’m not involved and it came to the stage where he (McCarthy) said; “You can go out on loan and play some games, I won’t hold you back,” and once a manager says that then it’s a good indication that you’re not going to play there so I had to try and give myself the best chance to get out there and I’m here to play first team games,” he said.

“It’s happened quite quickly to be honest; I spoke with the gaffer and my agent and then last night the call came to get here before the weekend so I packed my bags and hit the road and off I went.

“It wasn’t a difficult decision really as I’ve not really being playing much at Ipswich and haven’t been involved too much so the opportunity to be part of something meant that I wasn’t going to hang around and miss out on it.”

See if Cameron will make his Rovers debut when we host Fleetwood Town at Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday. Tickets for the game are available HERE or by calling 01302 762576.
