Time to ‘Enda’ Wait

18 April 2014

Paul Dickov revealed that loanee Enda Stevens is raring to go should he get the chance.

Stevens, who could deputise for James Husband if required on Friday night against promotion chasing Derby, hasn’t started a first team game since January against Blackburn.

The Republic of Ireland left back has had to bide his time since arriving on loan from Premier League giants Aston Villa, but Dickov said the Dubliner is ready to go.

“We kept Enda here for a reason, so that if anything did happen to James, we had a ready made replacement. He’s trained really well when out of the team, he’s looking sharp and I know he’s desperate to take his chance,” he said.

This follows the news that impressive youngster James Husband is likely to miss the Rams fixture after limping out of the 2-1 defeat to Ipswich Town last weekend with a hamstring injury.

“Overall, it’s good news on Hubby. He’ll struggle for Derby but has a slight chance for Millwall. The good news is that he’ll definitely be back before the end of the season,” said Dickov.

Midfielder Richie Wellens and defender Lucas Neill look “touch-and-go” to make the Good Friday fixture.

“They weren’t quite right for last week, they’ve both done some light jogging this week so we’ll assess them on Thursday and Friday but they’re probably 50/50 and I’ve got to make the decision with the Millwall game coming up and which way we’re going to go.”
