Tyson: Time to Push On

Rovers front man hoping to take confidence from breaking goalscoring duck.

Nathan Tyson was relishing a trip to top of the table Coventry City on Saturday after notching his first goal of the campaign on Tuesday night against Chesterfield.

Tyson stabbed home the opening goal of a 3-0 win over the Spireites having seen his penalty initially saved.

“It’s the first career penalty I’ve missed and my heart was in my mouth when he saved it and then it bounced out and it was perfect,” beamed the 33 year old.

“It (the drought) was playing on my mind for the last three or four games but having said that I wasn’t worried because the gaffer pulled me to one side in the week, we had a little chat and I was snatching at things and getting frustrated with myself but I’ve been involved in other goals; setting up Andy (Williams) and being part of the team doing the nitty gritty stuff and so long as I did that I was going to get my rewards.

“Hopefully I can push on now, I feel happy and it’s a big weight off the shoulders. You’ve just got to believe in yourself and stay confident. With a little bit of luck, I’ve got there and I’m not going to look back.”

The win over Chesterfield made it four wins out of five for Doncaster - with each victory coming without conceding a goal – prior to facing the high flying Sky Blues at the Ricoh Arena.

“The most important thing is the lads; Willo (Andy Williams) and Cameron (Stewart) getting on the scoresheet and the defenders getting a clean sheet as well, it ticked every box,” said Tyson.

“It’s going to be a hard game but it’s a challenge. We’ve got to play the top half of the table and see where we are.

“I took a bit of a knock when I collided with the goalkeeper and have a bit of a dead leg, I think the gaffer wants to wrap me up in cotton wool sometimes - its one of those things, just get on with it.
“Saturday we have to look forward to as it will be a tough test.”
