Huge congratulations are in order for Doncaster Rovers supporter Nigel Walkden who was crowned the lucky winner of a life changing sum of money courtesy of the Rovers Alliance.The annual £10,000 Super Jackpot draw, arguably the highlight of the Rovers Alliance calendar, took place live on the pitch at half time at Rovers home game against Gillingham.
The 10 finalists each took it in turns to select a ball out of a concealed bag and the number the finalists pulled out determined the person that was eliminated from the competition.
By process of elimination, the Super Jackpot winner was confirmed after nine of the ten balls were accounted for leaving Nigel, the last man standing, to walk away with the full £10,000 and his name in the Rovers history books.
Upon claiming the winnings Nigel said: “I’m so overwhelmed, nothing like this ever happens to me. I didn’t sleep at all on Saturday night, I still can’t believe it!”
“I’ve been a member of the Rovers Alliance since it started, I see it as the cost of a pint a week to help support the club and the youth system. I’ve been supporting Rovers since 1968, my son and I are season ticket holders and my family are Rovers through and through.
“I’ve got two grandchildren and one on the way so I’ll be using the money to look after them. I’m sure we will be planning a very nice holiday too!”
