"We've got to regroup"

16 September 2014

Gaffer striving for home formula ahead of home double header.

Paul Dickov did not shy away from the fact that his side are in need of a win when they entertain Crawley Town at the Keepmoat Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The Scot faced the media prior to the Red Devils fixture, which will be his 200th in football management.

“We’ve lost our last two games so you don’t need to tell me that we need to turn that around and start picking up points and the performances need to improve,” he said.

“We seem to be going from the sublime to the ridiculous at the moment so are striving for that consistency and being hard to beat.

“Our home form needs to pick up and you want to win games in front of your home fans because they’ll always back you but I’m a great believer in the players get the fans going and we need to get on the front foot pressing teams.”

Rovers, who were beaten 3-0 by Bristol City on Saturday, also lost influential players Rob Jones and Harry Forrester to injury and suspension respectively and back to back home fixtures provide the chance for fringe players to “force the hand” of Dickov.

He said, “Loans have not been spoken about it, I’ll probably decide after the results of the next two games so we’re reasonably happy with the squad we’ve got.

“Two weeks ago we were at Watford and Colchester and doing well so we know we're capable of scoring goals but we need a base to build on

“Whatever level you’re playing at, you need a strong mentality and I felt our heads went down too quickly.”

Of his 200th game, Dickov said, “You learn all the time, you learn on Saturday that what you do in training doesn’t always come to fruition on a matchday regardless of how much practice you put in to things so you’re learning all the time and I want to learn and speak to my peers and gather knowledge.

“The thing that hurts at the moment though is the pride.”
