Williamson over the moon

16 September 2015

Youngster Conner Williamson delighted with progression in Premier League Cup.

A strong performance from Doncaster Rovers Development saw them score a 90th minute winner as well as keep a clean sheet against Championship side Preston North End.

“It was very hard. To go all the way down to the 91st minute just to get that goal is amazing. I’m over the moon,' said Williamson.

“All the lads worked very hard, we managed to keep the ball well, there were a few times where we could have done better, could have put our chances away and Preston could have scored one or two themselves, so overall we’re pleased.

“It’s a good learning curve for me playing against players from a club like Preston and I have to move on and take that into the next game now."

First team players Dany N'Guessan, Harry Middleton and Billy Whitehouse all featured in the game and Williamson went on to say how important their influence is to him and others involved.

“Its brilliant," he said. "They are very experienced. We wanted them to see as much of the ball as possible and they are constantly telling you what to do and helping you, they’re great lads.

“We’re all buzzing and glad to be through to the next round. We’ll take it step by step, result by result and see how far we go. We’ve kept a clean sheet today and scored a goal to win the game, there’s not much more you can ask for."
