Off. They won the two-legged tie on penalties after extra time at Chester. Beat Dagenham & Redbridge in the Final at Stoke City's ground by 3-2, after extra time, thus gaining promotion to the Football League, Division 3.
Lost to Worksop Town in the Final of the Sheffield & Hallamshire F.A. Senior Challenge Cup.
2003-04 Won Division Three Championship, promoted to the newly-named League One.
2007 Reached the final of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, where Rovers faced Bristol Rovers at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium. Goals from Jonathan Forte, Paul Heffernan and an extra-time winner from skipper Graeme Lee secured Rovers first major domestic cup win in our history.
2007-08 Miss out on automatic promotion to the Coca-Cola Championship after final day defeat to Cheltenham Town at Whaddon Road. Rovers enter the Play-Offs, where the opposition is Southend United. The first leg ends in a 0-0, however the return leg at Keepmoat Stadium ends in a resounding 5-1 victory, with James Coppinger scoring a sensational hat-trick. Rovers meet Leeds United in a historic final at the new Wembley Stadium, where a James Hayter header minutes after the half-time break elevates Doncaster Rovers to the second tier of English football for the first time in fifty years.
