INJURY UPDATE - WITH DEAN SAUNDERS

Posted on: Tue 07 Feb 2012

Neil Sullivan is still in a cast following his thumb operation and is two to three months away from a return.

George Friend is making good progress with his rehabilitation after sustaining a knee ligament injury.

James Coppinger is being monitored after suffering a fractured cheekbone and is out for at least six weeks.

Apart from the three above mentioned players, there are no more injury worries, something which Dean has put down to the work Fitness Coach Mal Purchase does.

"The injury situation has improved." he said

"When we came here there were around sixteen injuries, Mal has done a great job to reduce that down to three.

"It's mostly down to the rehabilitation plans Mal draws up for the individual players, which make the players come back fitter and stronger than ever.

"There are no muscle injuries now either, that's down to the way the players prepare for training and matches.

"We sometimes do double training sessions to ensure high fitness levels."
