Despite a two-hour coach trip from Doncaster to Merseyside, 40 youngsters were left with massive smiles on their faces in our very own Junior Rovers' latest trip.
Following the success of the trip to Manchester United's Old Trafford last season, the Junior Rovers headed to the home of 5-time European Champions and 18-time League Champions Liverpool - the famous Anfield.

With Liverpool's rivals Everton a stone's throw away, it was a great trip to a true footballing city; rich in history. The tour of Anfield offered some outstanding insights into a cathedral of football that has become the location of so many historical events. Commencing at The Kop, the tour of the ground began with an introduction to the man who made Liverpool the force they are today; the late, great Bill Shankly, whose statue stands proudly for all to see.

From there, the tour headed to the famous Anfield Legend's Lounge, where the walls are filled with the images of the past greats to wear the red of Liverpool. Shankly, Paisley, Dalglish, Liddell, McManaman, Fowler, Rush, Keegan - all adorn the walls of the Legend's Lounge. The Junior Rovers were next taken to the Directors Box; where the group caught their first glimpse of the Anfield terraces, the seats gleaming bright red. There the tour of the club's media facilities began, with the press box located above the Directors Box before the tour led down to Anfield's press conference room - where our very own Junior Rovers appeared on LiverpoolTV!

Then came the part of the tour the kids were waiting for - the Liverpool dressing room, where everybody queued up for pictures with their favourite Liverpool players' shirts; Gerrard, Torres, Carragher, Reina, Benayoun, Kuyt. Thereafter, our Junior Rovers members lined up in the tunnel before walking out into Anfield to the noise of the Reds' fans - each taking the opportunity to touch the famous 'This Is Anfield' sign.

The final part of the tour took the group to the famous Kop, where 'You'll Never Walk Alone' echoed around - making the hairs on the back of the neck stand on end.

The Junior Rovers then walked around the Liverpool Football Club museum at Anfield before taking time out to walk across Stanley Park to visit Goodison Park, the home of Everton.

A great day was had by all and Doncaster Rovers Football Club would like to thank Liverpool Football Club for the tour of their home - whilst we would like to thank Denise Pickersgill, our Junior Rovers co-ordinator, for organising the trip.
