Doncaster Rovers midfielder Richie Wellens admitted that the side's performance in the second half against Preston North End at Keepmoat Stadium was 'awful'.
The Rovers suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Preston North End on Easter Monday and Wellens believes that the method of play by the visitors made it impossible to get back into the game.
"I thought for the first twenty minutes we was okay," Wellens told Rovers World following defeat.
"But once they scored - it was a poor goal. Their goalkeeper has rolled in out of their left-back, he's run unchallenged for eighty yards, passed it onto the wing and he has crossed it in for the easy goal. In the second half, we was awful, to be fair. We just didn't know where to run, we were running into each other and it was just poor."
"They were just banked in and saying 'come and break us down'. We just wasn't good enough, didn't have good enough players. We've scored fourteen goals all year at home and once a team banks in against us, we haven't got enough movement or enough of a bright spark for us to break teams down. When we're away from home, teams come at us and we're okay but fourteen goals at home this season has been poor."
"We've got to keep ourselves going. Norwich have won today and Forest have got a point at Bramall Lane, so with two games away - our goal difference isn't too good. We definitely need another point, we may need another win. Everything is there to motivate us and we can't just sit back and relax. We need to get another point or another three points."
