Sean O'Driscoll will next week be taking his Doncaster Rovers squad to Eskdale, one of the most beautiful spots in the Lake District, for a three-day course as part of the pre-season training ahead of the 2009-10 campaign.
The Rovers will be enjoying a host of activities as part of an Outward Bound programme, before taking on Barrow AFC at Holker Street on the way back on Saturday 18th July - kicking off at 1:00pm.
"We've been to RAF Cottesmore for the past two years and had a good time there, whilst working extremely hard," Sean told DoncasterRoversFC.co.uk.
"Like everything else, people want to do different things. We initially enquired about going altitude training in Austria but our budget wouldn't allow it. One of the directors is a trustee of Outward Bound. They came up with a programme, we visited the place and it is a beautiful spot. They are used to taking corporate teams rather than sporting teams, so we have devised a programme which will be beneficial. It's short and sharp and we won't be away for a long period of time."
"They won't be doing any football while they're there but there will be plenty of activities that we have tried to recreate on the football pitch. Taking responsibility is one of the big things that we have preached. There will be a lot of things there where the players will be tested and will hopefully come out stronger for it. The lessons that we will learn will be translated into the football."
"Playing Barrow on the way back will give the players a little bit of football and the trip will make pre-season more enjoyable."
