Doncaster Rovers manager Sean O'Driscoll admitted that a draw was a fair result, as his side emerged from the opening day clash against Watford at Vicarage Road with a point.
James Hayter's exquisite header on 38 minutes cancelled out Watford's opener from Danny Graham, despite Dean Shiels looking to have put the ball beyond the line to give Rovers the win. However, neither the referee nor the linesman looked confident enough to declare it as a goal.
"I thought that the heat had a lot to do with the game, but I thought that both sets of players worked extremely hard," Sean told Rovers Player after the game.
"I thought that the quality could of been better from us and I am sure that Malky (Mackay, Watford boss) will be thinking the same of his team. To get a point away from home is good, and as I have said before, every point in this division is precious. After going a goal behind, I thought we reacted really well. I think that there were 22 really tired players at the end and a draw was probably a fair result."
Sean explained further that despite video replays showing Dean Shiels' effort crossing the line, he felt that both the lineman and referee were in a difficult position to award a goal.
"From where I was, I can't tell. We've froze the video and it is over the line. It's a difficult one for the linesman to give when he is forty yards away and the referee isn't in the best position to give it, so it is one of those. We can't complain too much about the officials, as it is almost impossible for them to be everywhere at once, so we will have to live with it."
