Doncaster Rovers full back Gareth Roberts continues to put in the performances that have made him an unsung hero at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Taking back his regular first team place from last season, where he was used intermittently, the former Welsh international has been one of the Rovers' most consistent performers this term, not giving the highly-rated winger Wayne Routledge an inch of space in last weekend's 2-0 victory over Queens Park Rangers.

This weekend, Rovers are on the road, taking on high-flying Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Saturday afternoon (3:00pm KO) - and Roberts is looking to build on Rovers' victory in the last match.

"It was a good performance against QPR," says Gareth, briefly reflecting on last weekend's game.
"We now need to take that forward into this weekend's game against Nottingham Forest. That's going to be a different test for us. They have some really good players and they play a different formation to QPR and we have been working this week on the best way to deal with them. Both Forest and QPR are footballing teams, but with Forest, the goalkeeper wants to play from the back and he will be looking to throw it out to the back four at every opportunity. When McKenna gets the ball, he'll always play it to the full backs and the full backs will always bomb on. All of their players are very comfortable on the ball, so they will cause us problems with our movement and will prove a good test for us all around the park."

Roberts has featured sixteen times for the Rovers this season - and admits that he is really enjoying his football in what is a very competitive division.

"I was in and out last season, which was quite frustrating. I've got the shirt at the moment and I want to hang on to it. I have always had faith in my ability All I can really do is do my best day-in-day-out, but if I can perform at my best on a match day and the manager keeps picking me, then its happy days. That's what I want; I want to be in the team week-in-week-out. I'm enjoying it and it is going well at the moment."
