SHARP: I'M DUE A GOAL

Posted on: Fri 15 Jan 2010

Rovers go head-to-head with Watford on Saturday afternoon at the Keepmoat in what promises to be a fully entertaining footballing encounter. If the first match of the season, which saw a 1-1 draw between the sides, is anything to go by, home and away fans alike are in for one heck of a treat.

Due to having three matches postponed because of the recent adverse weather conditions, Rovers haven't played since their 1-0 defeat away at the hands of Coventry City, a result which brought an end to a successful run of results.

But Rovers ace Billy Sharp assures that this long halt to proceedings has not caused any problems for the team's preparations.

"It's not a big hindrance but we were on a good run and then we lost one so we would have liked to get back out there but we've had a couple of games called off so we've kept our fitness up, kept training and looking forward to Saturday's game," Sharp told Rovers Player.

Sharp's been on top form recently with 11 goals in 17 appearances for the Rovers but even after not scoring in his last match, Rover's number 5 is still buzzing with confidence and is definitely due a goal.

"It seems a long time since I scored even though we've not played games so that's another reason why I'm eager to get out there because I didn't score in my last game so, if you like, I'm due one so hopefully I can get a couple on Saturday."

Speaking about Sean O'Driscoll remaining at the Club after recent speculation, Sharp reckons Rovers boss is the man to take them to the top.

"I think he's got unfinished business. He wants to take the club further and I think he thinks he can take the club further so hopefully we can do that for him."

Rovers fans will be all too familiar with Billy's goal celebrations, some quite clever ones such as the bench-press act at home to QPR and some just downright funny like the skiing celebration at Derby but Rovers front man reckons his next one will be relatively normal in comparison.

"I kept saying the next one will just be a normal celebration but the next one will just be a normal one, unless the lads come up with something!"
