Doncaster Rovers midfielder Brian Stock is back in the starting eleven and back wearing the captain's armband; continuing his return from an ankle injury with 90 minutes in Tuesday evening's FA Cup Third Round victory against Brentford at Griffin Park.
Stock made his first start for the Rovers following his injury in last Saturday's home win against Watford; however the Wales international was forced to withdraw early due to cramp. Now, with a full game under his belt, Stock is well on the way to getting fully match fit and was one of many Rovers players delighted that the Fourth Round meeting with Derby County awaits this Saturday.
"I surprised myself with how long I played tonight," said Stock following the final whistle at Griffin Park.
"I've had two games in the past three games and I was perhaps a little worried about my fitness. But after the last two games, I feel quite confident that I could play 90 minutes. I think the manager was going to bring me off a little earlier, but I was able to finish the game. I wouldn't like to play on this surface every week; there were a lot of bumps out there and a lot of our passes went astray today. We did our research on the pitch and we knew it was going to be like this and I think that we adapted very well."
"Games like these are always difficult, such as away to Brentford, and we didn't want to be an upset in the FA Cup of which there has been a couple in this round. We worked really hard for this game and we were really prepared. They are an honest, hardworking side and they gave us a real good game tonight."
