WILSON: WE'RE DISAPPOINTED

Posted on: Sun 24 Jan 2010

Doncaster Rovers bowed out of the FA Cup at the Fourth Round, following a heartbreaking late goal from Derby County's Jay McEveley at Pride Park on Saturday afternoon. The tie looked destined to go to a replay at the Keepmoat Stadium; however McEveley's late strike ensured that it was The Rams who were in the draw for the Fifth Round of the competition.

"I'm disappointed right now," confessed Doncaster Rovers midfielder Mark Wilson after the game.

"However, the dressing room is okay this evening. You have to prepare for defeat as well as you prepare for success so that you can deal with it better. We seem to be doing that well at the moment, dealing with it well when we do get beat. We've been able to take the positives from all situations; yes, you are disappointed and you are down - but you have to move on because the games come in thick and fast. It's something that has been instilled in us by the coaching staff, to deal with defeat properly and we seem to be doing it, so we'll get on with it."

And there were a lot of positives that Wilson took from the performance against Derby.

"Performance-wise, we can take some positives. It was a little tired at times and there were a few sloppy balls. The goal came from a bit of sloppy play in the middle and, myself personally, I'm not happy with. At the end of the day, it was going to take a worldy shot. The defence did well to block the first shot and their man has spotted something out of nothing and you can't argue with the strike - he's smashed it in and it's taken something special to beat us on the day. There were spells where we did have good possession and did put pressure on them. We didn't quite make it count today, although the performance was probably better than the last time we were here. On the whole, we probably had more of the ball - but unfortunately we have got beat - now it's back to the League."

And Rovers are back in midweek Championship action this Tuesday evening, as Wilson's former club Middlesbrough arrive at the Keepmoat Stadium. Kick off is at 7:45pm - make sure you don't miss the bounce back! Click below to book your tickets!
