Doncaster Rovers midfielder James Coppinger has been playing in all positions across the midfield as of late.
More commonly recognisable as a winger, or a midfielder that enjoys playing off the strikers, Coppinger featured in a holding midfield role in the recent home game against Middlesbrough and admits that although he didn't mind filling in for the injured Brian Stock, it's not something he'd consider doing long-term.
"The manager pulled me prior to the game against Middlesbrough and told me that he wanted me to play in midfield, which I'm fine with as long as it's not long term and he assures me it isn't" admitted Coppinger.
"I thought that I played alright, likewise against Cardiff where I played in the centre with Brian Stock and Mark Wilson and that's been good. It tests me as a player and I've been enjoying the way that I have been playing at the minute; quite consistent and now I would just like to add a few goals."
This weekend, James Coppinger is set to face Reading - who include former Rovers favourite Matthew Mills in their ranks. The Royals are flying in the FA Cup, but have struggled to get to grips with the League and have found themselves in the relegation zone for a large part of the season.
"We've been there ourselves," commented Copps.
"They do have the distraction of the Cup, where they did well against Liverpool - so it will be a tough game. We know that and with two losses, but a very close game against Cardiff and a very good performance in the second half from ourselves - if we can look to build on that back at the Keepmoat, then it should be good for us."
"I'm relishing the chance to play against Millsy! He was a fantastic player for us and it's picked up for him in the past few months and it is going well for him there. He'll be relishing the chance to come back to the Keepmoat and we will make it difficult for him - I'm sure that Billy will run him ragged!"
