Doncaster Rovers striker Paul Heffernan is set to join League One side Bristol Rovers on an initial one-month loan deal, subject to the successful completion of relevant paperwork.

The Irish striker has been limited to appearances for the Rovers this term, making only thirteen in the red and white hoops this season. Heffernan spent a spell away from the Keepmoat Stadium on an earlier loan with League One Oldham Athletic, in which he scored one goal in four appearances.

Heffernan joins Paul Trollope's side who are currently in ninth place in Coca-Cola League One and will go straight into The Gas' squad to take on Walsall at The Memorial Stadium on Tuesday evening should he be registered in time.

It signals a return to Bristol for the 28 year-old frontman, who joined Bristol City in 2004 from Notts County. Heffernan went on to score five goals in twenty-seven appearances for City before joining Doncaster Rovers in 2005.
