Doncaster Rovers defender James Chambers returns to his former stomping ground this week, as he travels with the rest of the Rovers to take on Leicester City at The Walkers Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Full back Chambers endured a frustrating time whilst a Fox, in a spell where Leicester City appointed three different managers in the early reign of new Chairman Milan Mandaric. The 29 year-old defender is now looking to make a return to winning ways with Rovers at his former home ground, whilst showing his former employees a glimpse of the player they never got to fully see.

"It was a difficult time for me - and for the club as well," says Chambers.

"The year that I was there ended in the club being relegated (to League One). I didn't really feature that much and there was three different managers whilst I was there. There was a lot of turmoil and a lot of uncertainty from the players' point of view. It would be nice to go back there and give a good account of myself as well as of Doncaster Rovers. "

Chambers paid credit to Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson who, since being appointed manager, achieved promotion to The Championship last season as League One Champions and looks a solid bet to make it back-to-back promotions should City continue their fine run of results for the rest of the term.

"Fair play to the manager in Nigel Pearson, who looks to have gone in there and grabbed the bull by the horns so to speak, has made the job his own and is developing a very good side there. I was with him for a pre-season, but left before the season began. He likes the ball to be passed at times and he is no-nonsense at certain times - especially at the back. From what I saw, he is a great manager. Very enthusiastic and very encouraging to his players and I think that both the players that were there and the players he has brought in have all taken to him."

One player that Rovers supporters will be eager in anticipation to see once more is midfielder Richie Wellens. The former Manchester United man spent two seasons at Doncaster Rovers, helping the side to League One promotion via the Play-Offs before becoming part of the team that maintained Championship status last term.

Wellens returns to the Leicester City squad after serving a one-match suspension following his dismissal against Newcastle United over a week ago.

"He's had a nice little rest going into this game, hasn't he?" laughs Chambers.

"We just played against Matt Mills with Reading and I'm sure it is always good for the fans as well as the players who have played alongside these guys. I'm sure it's good for the old players themselves. It's always nice playing against your former sides, as I will be. He's a very good player, as he showed in abundance here. We'll have to watch out for him, but at the end of the day we have some very good midfielders here and we won't be worried."
